Review: Nokia 6500s Black Beauty

The 6500s is solidly well built, metal case with brush finishing on the metal surface. The one you seeing now is the black version instead of the earlier batch which was in silver.

Integrated with 3.2 Carl Zeiss optic lens with auto focus capable. What’s more do you want?

Nokia gave 6500s a simple touch, running on Nokia proprietary S40 platform, and truely mobile featured phone. Even though it’s running on S40, but improvement over the years, Nokia has really put in real effort to enhance the S40, useful features can be easily found in S40 now, to name some like: Note, Calendar/Reminder, Active standby application that offer direct access to the application you use most of the time, and it is configurable to perfection.
Top view (headphone jack, USB data port, back case release button, charging port)

Bottom (as clean as it is!)

Right (zoom/volume buttons, shuttle release)

Left (nothing but a handphone strap hole)

Holding this in hand, really make you shine out from others. It is well constructed, no creaky sound even with some press **with force** on the phone case. In one word, “Solid”. Sneaking at 6500s would give you an impression on glamour yet simple. *due to the materials used* The slider is well constructed as well, comparing to 6110 navigator (which feel a little flimsy at time), this one feel even better when sliding up / down the keypad. But be sure you hold it securely, because I feel the ‘spring’ used is kind of responsive and strong.

Sound and Screen were awesome. The screen brightness, contrast and sharpness are just superb! Sound playback is great as well, a better speaker being used I presumed… even the same tone being playback via 6500s, sound ‘prettier’ than my E61i. **I got to admit this**
Overall, a head turning 3G mobile phone, with very good construction quality. Just RM1k to burn… worth or not? To me, it definitely worth it. The look itself suit all kind of occassions for attention!

nice piece, not to sure about the phone though, it seems very wide, looks like it would way down in your pocket, pity because the 7500 prism was a perfect size, just lacking in features

hi dave,
it may look wide(Dimensions: 96.5 x 46.5 x 16.4 mm), but feel really nice when holding in hand. the only thing that bug me is the thickness, if it can be slimmer… then it would be perfect then. :)
