Review: Apple iPod Classic 80GB
There were too much information about Apple Touch and iPhone during the launch, but to those who don’t really into new wave of technology gizmo might still go and get the iPod classic instead. It is huge improvement if compare to the previous series of iPods, nice industrial design (although just a little refinement done based on the previous iPod design) and come with hell lot of storage space.
as usual, the box design seems been ‘streamlined’, it maintains the look and feel just like other iPods / iPhones.
this review show the 80GB version of black iPod classic. Frankly speaking this slimmed down version of iPod is really good to hold in hand, but a little weighty.
top view, just the lock button and the headphone jack.
bottom view, apple’s ipod proprietary USB connector port.
Kudos to the research and development team from Apple iPod division, the screen is really high res. Using it to view movie clips or photos is just awesome. (as if you do not mind iTunes as the only data transfer tool)
The color saturations, sharpness are just great to look at. Navigating the iPod classic sometime abit lag though, but not an issue here. Its still perform above my expectation overall.
Some games were preinstalled in the iPod. the 3D render is just awesome, controlling using the dial pad is just another new experience to me (but need a little while to get used to it).
conclusion
Overall, great screen resolution (awesome screen to do video/photo playback!!), good finishing and plenty of storage space. If you would like to get a good portable media player but insist Apple’s product only, I think this should be the one to go. You won’t go wrong with this, despite the storage capacity offer – it’s 80GB!!! I reckon if you browse through some of the iPod community sites, you would definitely get some hacks application that allow you to install thirdparties software or games into your iPod, so the potential to mod your iPod to another extreme PMP is there.
with the price tag around RM850 online price and around RM1000 retail price for this little monster, what are you waiting for?
